Number 8 Turquoise
Number 8 Turquoise is highly prized, both for its uniquely beautiful appearance, but especially for its rarity. Celebrated for the golden brown to black distinctive spider web matrix and bright blues, Number 8 turquoise has been valued for its beauty since it was first discovered in 1929. The only mine, located in the Lynn mining district in Eureka County, Nevada and it is no longer producing turquoise.In its prime, the mine produced some of the most enormous nuggets of turquoise ever found. In 1950 a deposit of some of the finest spider web turquoise ever found in Nevada. The pocket produced more than 1,600 pounds of the very highest-grade turquoise, a discovery that is still being talked about today. A huge nugget was excavated, that when cleaned and polished weighed 150 pounds!
Since gold was discovered at the mine in 1976 there has been no Number 8 Turquoise extracted. There is however, an existing stock pile that the last owner of the mine had stocked away for later sorting. This is truly a collector's item -- because once the reserve is gone there will be no more material released onto the market. The Gold Mining Company owns the claims to the Number 8 mine and it has been swallowed up by the gold mining operations. Number 8 Turquoise will be a great addition to your collection.
