Red Coral
Old Pawn
Below you will find our offerings of authentic
red coral Old Pawn necklaces. The genuine coral tube beads on these
necklaces are exquisite and have more uniformity in shape than what is normal ly
found in coral beads today. The color is natural, un-dyed and the luster
is very beautiful. Interspersed among the coral are handmade beads
of silver and turquoise. These silver beads appear brassy in color due to
the patina on them, but they are silver and you could put a shine on them with a
light rubbing silver polish cloth.
With Navajo women, strands of coral beads are a symbol of success and social
prominence....the standard being a minimum of ten strands at the time of a
woman's thirtieth birthday. To learn more about the role of red coral in
Native American jewelry, read our page on "Coral-the
Red Gold of Indian Jewelry".
